Professor Hampel is Chair and Principal Investigator of the Sorbonne University Clinical Research Group on Alzheimer Precision Medicine (GRC No. 21) and of the international Alzheimer Precision Medicine Initiative (APMI). He leads the international Cholinergic System Working Group (CSWG) and is Senior Associate Editor of the journal of the Alzheimer Association, Alzheimer’s & Dementia.

Professor Hampel’s major research contributions include the discovery and development of multimodal genetic, biochemical, neurodynamic and neuroimaging biomarkers of neurodegenerative diseases. His major objective is to transform traditional Neurology, Psychiatry and Neuroscience embracing Precision Medicine and Pharmacology based on Complex Systems Theory using advanced Biostatistics, Genomics, Systems Biology and Neurophysiology, Big Data Science and Biomarker-guided integrative disease modeling for improved detection, classification, stratification and biomarker-guided “liquid-biopsy” targeted therapy development in neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer's disease.
